Chew on This: The Remarkable Role of Beavers in New Mexico's Watersheds

The New Mexico Beaver Project leads this Talk Tuesday, exploring the history of beavers in New Mexico and what is being done to restore beaver numbers across the state. Learn the critical role beavers play in the state's water and climate future—and, most importantly, why beavers are just about the coolest rodents in our land of enchantment.

Beavers can make New Mexico a more lush, resilient, hospitable, and productive place for people and wildlife. The New Mexico Beaver Project is working to restore beavers in New Mexico waterways to save water, recharge aquifers, mitigate flooding and drought, reduce wildfire damage, create aquatic and wetlands habitat, and provide more clean, cool water to all life that relies on it – including us.
